Inspired by the work Fictional Radio Spaces by Ingeborg Marie Des Thomas, who tried to illustrate invisible electromagnetic fields, this project shapes fictional data using the photographic technique of procedural lightpainting. The illustrations are moving between technoid hologram and personal handwritten note.
I first made a unified view of colour trends in movie posters since 1914. Ignoring black and white colours, I generated a horizontal strip of hues in HSL. The width of each hue represents the amount of that hue across all images for that year, and the saturation and lighting were the weighted average for all matching pixels. Since HSL has a fixed order, comparisons can be made between years visually.

Made in collaboration by Annica Cuppetelli and Cristobal Mendoza,Nervous Structure (Field) is an installation piece designed to confuse and then illuminate the line between the physical and digital. 144 vertical lines are strung and then 144 lines of light are projected on to them. The lines of light respond to the movement of visitors and the result is a hypnotic field of waves and moire patterns.
